Hurricane Season 2011!!!

Posted by mackenzieking on April 19, 2011 at 4:45 PM Comments comments (2)

How active our hurricane season will be, really depends on one thing. Will we have a weak EL NINO this Summer or not??? If we do... then get ready for an active season, but if not, then it wont have that many storms, with very little landfalls.

Im predicting an above normal hurricane season with a weak EL NINO. The Weak EL NINO will start forming in a couple months, before the peak of the hurricane season... This will make way for many hurricanes, some being very strong. This is how I think the season will come out:

-18 named storms

-9 of the 17 storms will be Hurricanes

- 2 or 4 of the 9 Hurricanes will be Major Hurricanes

I expect a exceptionally warm Summer, which means warmer waters.

I think out of the 18 named storms,  that 1-2 of them will make landfall in the United States.

Also, I think the United States has a whole has a 28% chance of landfall of a hurricane. The east coast has a 18% chance of a hurricane making landfall, and lastly, the Gulf coast has a 22% chance of a hurricane,

2 Week outlook for 4-19-11

Posted by mackenzieking on April 18, 2011 at 11:33 PM Comments comments (1)

The next 2 weeks looks to be unsettled for some, and quiet for others. The places that will be unsettled will be Central United States, through the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast. These places will have storm after storm, and some of these storms will be violent. Currently, we have a storm forming in Plains that will strengthen and make its way in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast for Wednesday. This will be our next threat. This will have the strength to creat some tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail. In the next 15 days, places in the plains could pick up as much as 11 inches of rain!!! While in the south, will only see a measly inch or 2.  Saying that, this means the central plains could have major flooding, while the south could work its way back into a major drought! This will  be a while ride! Have fun and be safe!!

The Next storm

March 14-17 storm.

The storm down in the south and up into Ohio doesnt look to be such a big rain maker. The most ANYONE on the east coast will see is 1.5 inches. Most of the NorthEast wont even see that much. Most of us will see a range of .45 to .80 inches of rain. Like always, down in Alabama and Mississippi will see thunderstorms and heavy rain. They can see as much as 2.9 inches of rain.

So this is how it breaks down:

All through the Apps:

All of the Appalachians will see a range of .4 to .65 inches of rain. Anywhere east of that will be less.

Ohio:

Ohio will have a range of rainfall.

Northern Ohio will see less. .25-.45 is possible. While Southern Ohio will be a little higher with .49-.65 inches of rain is available.

Rest of the Northeast:

All of the northeast with the exeception of the coast wont get much. A range of .25 to .50 will be possible. While along the coast of Maryland and New York could get .50-.80 inches of rain.

AGAIN! THIS IS ONLY THE MARCH 15-17th STORM AND NOT THE ONE SHORTLY AFTER THAT!!!!

Thanks!
